Cute Christmas Hat Drawing Tutorial

Below is the full step-by-step christmas hat drawing guide. Each step is easy to follow, and the shapes stay intentionally simple so anyone can join in—even if you’re just starting out.
These drawings are all hand-drawn by me, exactly the way I would sketch them if you were sitting beside me at my desk.

Step 1 – Draw the Fluffy Hat Brim

Start by sketching a long, rounded rectangle near the bottom of your page. This shape will become the soft, fluffy brim of your Christmas hat, so keep the edges smooth and slightly curved.

Don’t worry about perfect symmetry here—cozy shapes always look cuter with a bit of personality!

Step 2 – Begin the Main Hat Shape

Now draw a long, curved line rising from the left side of the brim. Let it arc gently upward as if the hat is leaning to one side.

This will form the first side of the tall, soft part of the Christmas hat. Keep the curve smooth and flowing so the hat already starts to look cozy.

Step 3 – Complete the Hat Outline

Add another long, curved line starting from the right side of the brim and connecting it to the top of the line you drew earlier.

This creates the full rounded shape of the Christmas hat.

Keep the curve soft and generous so the hat looks fluffy and full.

Step 4 – Add the Fluffy Pom-Pom

Draw a round circle attached to the tip of the hat’s curved point. This will be the soft pom-pom that gives the Christmas hat its classic cozy look.

Keep the circle nice and smooth so it feels light and fluffy.

Step 5 – Add a Small Fold Line

Draw a short curved line where the tip of the hat meets the pom-pom.

This little detail shows the hat bending over and adds a nice sense of softness and movement to your drawing.

Step 6 – Add Simple Background Sparkles

Draw a couple of small star-shaped sparkles around the hat to give the drawing a festive, cheerful feel.

These little background details make your Christmas hat look even more magical and help the whole illustration pop on the page.

Step 7 – Color Your Christmas Hat

Finish your drawing by filling in the hat with bright, festive colors.

Add a bold red to the main part of the hat, then keep the brim and pom-pom a soft white to make them look fluffy.

You can also add yellow to the sparkles for an extra cheerful glow.

Once everything is colored, your cozy Christmas hat is complete!
